This week’s Tip: Set up TimeTrack for the summer.

As you start your summer, make sure to update TimeTrack with your 2026-27 district calendar.   Click the TimeTrack logo, select Contact Days, select 2026-2027 at the top, then change any holiday and vacation day to BLUE.  Easy.

Once you set your contact days, you can create the frame for your day.  Entering these daily elements as repeating events is helpful.  As your schedule fills, you can click and drag these framing events to deal with conflicts.  Most school leaders start with three framing events:

  • Getting Started (Management/Office Work Prep) Time to get ready for the day when you arrive.

  • SAM Daily Meeting  (Instruction/Decision Making Meetings) Time to schedule at/above goal and use your data to determine next steps.

  • Wrapping Up (Management/Office Work Prep) Time to get ready to go home.

Once you have entered these events add duties you intend to take: student arrival, dismissal, etc.  Then, add staff and other meetings you attend each week or month.  Be sure to schedule an hour with your SAM and Leadership Team to review and update your First Responder list for the new year, too.

Look at your staff list in TimeTrack.  You can add new and archive departing staff members.  You won’t lose your data.  Go to the TimeTrack logo, select Individual/Groups.  Clicking the Active circle next to a name will remove the person from your list without deleting the data.  You can return a person to the active list by scrolling down the page and opening the Inactive list.

Finally, set your monthly instructional time goals for 2026-27.  Go the TimeTrack logo and select Monthly Goals.  Look at your monthly goals for current school year and enter your goal for each month of the upcoming school year, 2026-27.

It is budget time in most schools and districts.  Be sure to include your SAM services for the 2026-27 school year.  You can request an early invoice now by using this link: https://bit.ly/40GtA33

Consider budgeting for the 20th Annual National SAM Conference, too.  The conference provides an opportunity to learn from SAM teams across the US and an amazing array of national and international speakers, authors and thought leaders in leadership, education, and psychology.
